Painting on Chinaware
The type of painting shown here is created by thin layers of paint that give a luminous watercolor feel and add depth and richness. Each layer is fired in a kiln at an extremely hot temperature, which opens the pores of the chinaware allowing the paint to adhere to it permanently. Liquid gold and platinum, which are purchased in small bottles, may be applied to give an elegant finish. The artwork is dishwasher safe but not recommended for pieces with metallic applique as it may eventually dull or fade.
